Technique Tuesday Cards

Awhile back my friend Lori taught some Technique Tuesday classes at the Scrapping Turtle. I wasn't able to attend the actual classes, so I ordered the kits. There were several layout classes and one card class. I managed to finish the kits for the layouts fairly soon after the actual class (with the exception of one that needs one more step and one that just needs photos), but I hadn't completed the card kit --- until now. I finished up the cards the other night and really enjoyed putting them together.

For the most part I completed the cards as instructed in the kit. One of the few changes I made was in the colouring of the cards. The instructions said to use coloured pencils. I, however, decided to use my wonderful Copic markers. Since I really hadn't used them for much yet, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give them a try. And yes, I'm hooked. I had to substitute some off white twill ribbon for the white twill that the instructions called for. I couldn't find any white in the approximate size. This colour worked just fine in my opinion.

The tallest card was designed by Lori herself, using the Technique Tuesday stamps. I really liked using the Technique Tuesday tiles on these cards. I think I might have to try using them on other things since the finished project looks so nice.

Thanks to the Scrapping Turtle for offering the classes and for Lori's unique touch with all of the kits. As always Lori -- you rock!!!!!! I'm looking forward to doing some more Technique Tuesday classes with Lori, I'm just hoping that this time I'll be able to attend the actual classes :)

Technique Tuesday Classes Part 2

Remember this post? Those were the images from the kit for the first week. I now have some more images to post of the projects created using the Technique Tuesday class kits from The Scrapping Turtle.

I was able to locate some white twill, which I need in order to finish the layout from week 2. It isn't done so I can't post it yet. I do however have the lovely card that was created with the same kit. I really enjoyed stamping and creating the pretty flowers.

The kit for week 3 also involved creating a layout (double page thanks to the wonderful Lori) and a card. I am posting the layout without photos, since I am going to wait until the end of the year to add photos highlighting the entire year. The penciled squares indicate where the photos will go. It is my intention to make it a layout about both of the children and use a picture of them together from each month in 2009. This was my first experience stamping on twill. I was nervous at first, but I know it is something I will try again --- especially since I need to do it to complete the layout from week 2.

I altered my card very slightly from the example in the kit for week 3. I matted the words "love" and "everyday" then pop dotted them to the card. I think I know who I'm going to be giving this card to :)

As for the layout from week 2 --- I still need to stamp the twill and attach it (BTW: if you happen to need 1" wide white twill Len's Mill Store in Hespeler carries it), and find just the right photos to finish it off. I am hoping to have a photo shoot with the children on Monday, so hopefully there will be some perfect photos to complete the layout. Gary and I took the children shopping today and found some nice outfits for the photo shoot --- let's just hope things work out for doing it on Monday.

Technique Tuesday Classes

The Scrapping Turtle offered four weeks of Technique Tuesday stamping classes on Tuesday nights. I wasn't able to join the classes, taught by the fabulous Lori, but I did purchase all of the kits. So far I have finished putting together the first kit and I'm almost finished the second (just having a small missing product problem with it). The kits were nice enough on their own, but Lori went a step further for us -- thank you Lori!!!!! She adapted each layout in the classes from a single page to a double page!!!!! Isn't that awesome!!!!! Lori is the best!!!!!

The layout from the first class is titled "Together is a wonderful place to be". Photos are of Gary and Sara, Samuel and myself, and Sara and Samuel. Journaling reads: "It doesn't matter where we are or what we are doing, being together is the best thing in the world. Whether we are out at a restaurant, spending time at the park, visiting some exciting place, or even just hanging out at home, nothing beats the time we spend together as a family. Sara, Samuel, Mommy and Daddy -- it really is a wonderful place to be. June 2009". Here is the layout:

Here is the fantastic card from the first class:

Hopefully I will get the next kit finished soon so that I can post it in the near future. Thanks again to Lori for this wonderful kit!!!!
