Summerfest

It's going to be another great summer full of fun and fabulous challenges on The Scrapping Nook message board. We are already one week into the fun, with some great challenges.

Challenge 1 was an Ad Challenge. As soon as I saw the image I thought of the new Mango Luau line from Bo Bunny. I hand cut several elements from the paper and put them together with this photo of Sara at Port Elgin last year. It is called "Welcome To Paradise" and the journaling reads "It may not have been a tropical location, but it didn't bother Sara. The second her feet touched the sand in Port Elgin she was in paradise. August 20, 2009"

Challenge 2 was Don't Get Edgy. The rule was that we couldn't use any squared off corners on our project. I created "Sweet Flower" using scalloped cardstock, two flower shaped cardstocks, a flower cut from Bo Bunny's Mango Luau line, a Heidi Swapp bling circle, Bo Bunny flowers, American Crafts Thickers, and a flower shaped brad. The photo is of Sara holding a flower from one of the plants at the front of our house.

Challenge 3 was It's All In The Touch. We had to use texture in our layout. I created "Grow" using handmade papers, Making Memories Jumbo brads, embroidery floss, paper ribbon, Scribbles 3D paint, Ranger Stickles, and a chipboard title from K & Company. I also added a bit of texture to the photo using my edge distressor and a cool tool I have from Tim Holtz that scratches the photo surface (can't remember what the tool is called). The photo is of Sara posing with our neighbour's roses. Don't you love the outfit she chose for herself?

Challenge 4 was a Colour Challenge. I created my "Thank You So Much" card using Bazzill cardstock, Jillibean Soup paper, Doodlebug paper, ribbon, and my new Quickutz embossing folders. This is one of the smaller folders that come four in a package. I love these embossing folders!!!! I sanded it lightly after embossing.

Challenge 5 was Lift This, a sketch challenge using a sketch from Pencillines. I created "Moments Like This" using Little Yellow Bicycle's Zinnia line, some Ranger Stickles and Doodlebug Loopy Lou alphabet stickers. The photos are of Sara and Samuel at Grammy's house posing with her beautiful flowers.

Our photo challenge this week was a still life. I took a picture of my slowly growing stash of Copics.
